Dr. Kim Beaucage

Dentist, DDS PhD

Born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, Dr Kim Beaucage completed her Honours Bachelor of Science with a Minor in Biology undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo. She went on to pursue graduate studies at Western University (formerly the University of Western Ontario), where she completed a PhD in Physiology with a Specialization in Musculoskeletal Health Research specifically focused on diseases of bone and metabolism. Dr Beaucage was selected for enrollment in the Schulich Dental Clinician-Scientist (DCS) program – a unique program consisting of a PhD in an area of research relevant to dentistry followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at Western University. During her DDS, Dr Beaucage participated in the Dentistry Summer Research Program to remain involved with research focused on arthritis and osteoporosis related diseases.

Dr Beaucage’s work has been recognized with numerous scholarships and awards, has contributed to funding of research grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and The Arthritis Society, and has been published in top-tier peer-reviewed scientific journals within her field. She has been invited to present her work nationally and internationally. Most recently, Dr Beaucage was awarded the Quintessence Research Award of Distinction for exemplary research in an undergraduate dental program, and the Quintessence Award in Restorative Dentistry for excellence in the clinical aspects of Operative Dentistry from Western University.

In her time at Western, Dr Beaucage co-created and was co-chancellor of a dental research group for students as well as a research group for musculoskeletal health research trainees. She enjoyed volunteering in community outreach programs such as Dental Outreach Community Service (DOCS), DOCS Kids and Sharing Smiles Day, programs that teach children and adults, as well as persons with special needs how to attain good oral hygiene, as well as providing dental care to those in need.

In her spare time, Dr Beaucage enjoys travel, fitness, outdoor activities such as hiking, and spending time with friends and family. She continues to be active in dental-related research, and has a passion for teaching. Dr Beaucage has taught dental students at Western University since 2018, as she holds appointments as an Adjunct Clinical Professor in Dentistry, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Physiology.

Dr Beaucage – or Dr Kim as she’s better known to her patients – is delighted to provide dental care at Homer Watson Dental in Kitchener. Recently, the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry has recognized Dr Beaucage by featuring her in an article that tells the story of her return to Waterloo Region found here. A scientist at heart, she strongly believes in keeping up-to-date with the latest scientific literature in the field, practicing scientific evidence-based dentistry and continuing to be a life-long learner. Dr Kim truly loves to help her patients smile with confidence, while providing a calm and relaxing environment. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is passionate about helping patients achieve excellent oral health, contributing to their total health and well-being.

Julia

Dental Hygienist

Julia graduated from The University of Western Ontario with a degree in Nutrition in 2021, where she developed a strong appreciation for the connection between overall health and oral wellness. She went on to pursue her passion for preventive care by completing her Dental Hygiene diploma in 2024, graduating with honours. Her educational background allows her to take a holistic approach to patient care, emphasizing the important role that nutrition, lifestyle, and oral hygiene play in maintaining long-term health.

As a dental hygienist, Julia is deeply committed to making a positive difference in her patients’ lives. She strives to create a welcoming, comfortable environment and believes that trust, education, and open communication are essential to helping patients feel confident in their oral health. Julia takes pride in providing thorough, gentle care while empowering patients with the knowledge they need to achieve and maintain healthy smiles.

Outside of the clinic, Julia enjoys staying active through yoga and Pilates, which reflect her passion for wellness and balance. In her free time, she also loves spending time with her two golden retrievers, Hudson and Elsa, who keep her busy and bring plenty of joy to her life. Julia’s warm personality, dedication to patient care, and commitment to overall wellness make her a valued member of the dental team.

Bri

Dental Hygienist

Bri is a caring and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist who is passionate about preventive care and patient education. She takes a gentle, patient-focused approach and strives to create a comfortable, positive experience for every patient. Bri believes that building trust and helping patients feel at ease is just as important as providing excellent clinical care.Bri graduated from the Dental Hygiene program in 2025 and previously earned a Biochemistry degree from the University of Guelph in 2023. Outside of the clinic, Bri enjoys reading in her spare time and values maintaining a balanced, mindful lifestyle.

Rosa Rodrigues-Zaharie

Clinical Manager

Rosa has over 26 years of experience in the dental industry, she graduated from Niagara College with her level 2 certification in Dental Assisting. Her bubbly personality and ability to put patients at ease are part of what makes Rosa such a valuable asset to our dental family. In her free time, you can find her relaxing with her 2 boys.

Why Our Team Approach Matters

Dental care works well when the people providing it work well together. At Homer Watson Dental in Kitchener, your visits are shaped by a small group of dentists, hygienists, and administrative staff who share notes, talk through findings, and plan around your goals and your schedule. That kind of teamwork is part of how we try to give patients a calm, organized experience rather than a series of disconnected appointments.

Each role on the team contributes something different. Your hygienist often sees you the most often and is well placed to notice early changes in your gums, the wear on your teeth, or habits that may be affecting your oral health. Your dentist completes the clinical exam, reviews radiographs when they are due, and talks treatment options through with you. Our administrative team holds the schedule together, helps with insurance questions, and makes sure the information you need before and after a visit is clear. When everyone shares what they're seeing, small issues are easier to address before they become larger ones.

Dentistry continues to evolve, and the team stays current with the scientific literature and clinical guidelines that inform day-to-day care. New materials, updated infection prevention practices, and refinements in how conditions like gum disease or sleep-related concerns are managed all change over time. Practising evidence-informed dentistry means looking at what the research actually supports, then applying it in a way that fits the patient in front of us rather than a generic template.

Some treatment plans benefit from more than one set of hands. A patient working through gum inflammation might see the hygienist for several focused appointments while the dentist monitors healing. Someone considering an implant, orthodontic treatment, complex root canal therapy, or oral surgery may be referred to another dental practitioner with additional training in that area. When a referral is part of the plan, our team coordinates the records, radiographs, and notes so the next clinician has the context they need, and we follow up afterward to bring that care back into your ongoing routine at Homer Watson Dental.

Communication is the thread that holds all of this together. Before a treatment plan is finalized, we walk through the findings with you, lay out the options, and answer questions about timing, cost, and what to expect. If something changes between visits, your concerns go into the chart so the next team member who sees you is already up to speed. We also try to flag the small things, like a tooth that has been watched for a few years or a habit worth revisiting at the next cleaning, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Continuity matters in dentistry. Seeing the same team over time means we get to know your history, your preferences, and how your mouth changes from year to year. That long view often makes it easier to spot patterns, plan ahead, and make recommendations that fit your life. It also gives patients a chance to build trust at their own pace, which we think is one of the more meaningful parts of family dental care.
